There are two legends concerning the origin of the name Cavtat. One says that the name Cavtat comes from the Latin Civitus Vetus and is associated with the story of the beautiful Cavtislava, the only daughter of the King and Queen of Epidaurus, Kodrun and AmruĆŸa. Another legend says that the name Cavtat comes from the Old Croatian verb captiti, which means to blossom.
